What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, affected motorcycles may lose stability whilst operating under certain conditions at higher speeds. This could result in a loss of vehicle control.

What are the hazards?

A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death of rider, passenger and/or other road users.

What should consumers do?

When parts become available, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Harley-Davidson to schedule an appointment to update the calibration software and the installation of front-end ballast and strap components, free of charge.

Note: Operators should follow the guidance outlined in the owner manual (i.e., to reduce speed and guide the motorcycle with a relaxed grip to a controlled condition)

What are the defects?

The exhaust pipe mounting nuts may not have been sufficiently tightened during production. The nuts may become loose and/or the nuts and collar of the exhaust pipe may fall off.

What are the hazards?

A loss of the collar of the exhaust pipe during operation increases the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to the rider and/or passenger or other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners can return the affected vehicle/s to their original selling dealer if possible, or alternately, to an authorised Kawasaki motorcycle dealership so that the recall may be completed.

A clutch slave cylinder manufactured with a bellow style gasket may be damaged during assembly. Damage could result in the clutch failing to disengage preventing the rider from being able to change gears.

If the clutch fails to disengage it could result in a loss of motorcycle control increasing the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to the rider and/or passenger or bystanders.

What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing fault, the motorcycle’s drive chain joining link may dislodge, which can cause the chain to detach from the rear sprocket.

What are the hazards?

If the drive chain detaches, the motorcycle may experience loss in vehicle control. This can increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to the rider and bystanders.
