In 1993, Warm & Safe founder Mike Coan developed the first rheostat-like Heat-troller to adjust the temperature of heated motorcycle apparel instead of just an on/off switch. Since then the technology has been improved and Warm & Safe now offers a range of Heat-trollers that connect directly to a motorcycle’s battery, as well as heated apparel like shirts, jacket liners, pants liners, gloves and socks. Heat-trollers start at $59; heated apparel starts at $189.95.
UK-based armor specialist D3O has released its latest in motorcycle rider protection, the LP2 Pro range. This lightweight and highly breathable armor is certified to CE Level 2 in ambient wet, hot and cold conditions, meaning it protects you even in temperatures ranging from 14 degrees (not that many of us want to ride when it’s that cold!) to 104 degrees. LP2 Pro armor is available in knee, hip, elbow and shoulder shapes, with prices starting at $34.99.
Rugged, dependable and built for expedition conditions, the CyclePump Expedition ($115-130) fills your tire in two to three minutes. It connects in-line with a CyclePump EZAir Gauge ($25-40) so you can monitor pressures as you inflate. It’s available with two brass chuck options, straight or 90-degree, and four power options, a BMW-style plug with cigarette lighter adaptor, a 2-prong SAE connector and small alligator clips that attach to your battery.
