“The 2024 season will certainly be interesting. We will face important challenges due to the new regulations and the new scenario of our competitors, and this will be an additional stimulus for us. I have no doubt, though, that the team will keep working with the same determination to try and achieve great results again. We will rely on the best line-up a team can field: two reigning world champions. On the one hand, Alvaro, who certainly needs no introduction, and on the other Nicolò, who has repaid immediately the trust we gave him. We’ll also have the extraordinary support of Ducati on our side and that’s why we start this season with all the credentials to be protagonists again“.
Luigi Dall’Igna (General Manager Ducati Corse)
“Last year, we celebrated Alvaro Bautista and the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team, who successfully brought back the World Superbike Riders’ World Title to Borgo Panigale, completing an extraordinary Triple Crown by also securing the Manufacturers’ and Teams’ World Titles. It would have been difficult to imagine a better performance, but the 2023 WorldSBK season surpassed our expectations, writing a new chapter in Ducati’s history. Alvaro Bautista retained his Superbike World Champion title, and Nicolò Bulega, aboard the Panigale V2, became Supersport World Champion, marking a historic first Riders’ World Title for Ducati in this category. Adding to the significance of these victories are the Manufacturers’ Titles in both categories, accomplishments that fill us with pride. As we approach the new Superbike season, we do so with the best possible lineup, featuring two World Champions riding the Ducati Panigale V4 R machines. For sure, the 2024 season is full of challenges; the competition is increasingly fierce, and there are new hurdles to overcome. However, these challenges motivate and push us to do better. We are eager to see Alvaro and Nicolò hit the track in their new colours this year, starting with the upcoming tests at Jerez and Portimão in the next few days”.
Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #1)
“It is a big satisfaction to be back in a beautiful place like Madonna di Campiglio to present the bikes with which we will face a 2024 championship that will be extremely challenging, with so many changes both in terms of technical regulations and in terms of competitors. We will immediately have to work hard to adapt to the new rules, but I believe that in any case, it will be a very enjoyable season. The goal is to reach our maximum potential as soon as possible so that we can then have fun in every round. There will also be changes in the garage with a new team-mate: Nicolò is young, strong, and has already proven to be fast. I would also like to welcome the new sponsors who will accompany me aboard a really beautiful bike. The hope is that we can all do a great job together and for that, I want to wish the guys in my team the best of luck”.
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #11)
“I am very happy to have had the privilege of taking part in this ceremony. I remember very well when as a child I used to follow the Ducati team presentation in Madonna di Campiglio: being now among the protagonists of this event fills me with pride. I thank the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team for believing in me and giving me the chance to ride this Panigale V4R that I find beautiful. Let me make a joke: usually, when a bike is beautiful it must also go fast. That’s why we have high expectations for this season. I’m sure we can do well. The package we have is excellent, I’m very excited and I’ll try to give my best right from the start”.

Bagnaia and Ducati together for MotoGP season 2023 and 2024
Francesco Bagnaia and Ducati Corse have reached an agreement that will see the Italian rider aboard the Ducati Lenovo Team’s factory Desmosedici GP bike for another two seasons.
Born in Turin in 1997, “Pecco” Bagnaia made his MotoGP debut in 2019 with the Desmosedici GP of the Pramac Racing Team. He also contested the 2020 season with the same squad, achieving his first podium at the Grand Prix Lenovo of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, where he finished second on the rostrum.
Promoted to the official Ducati team last year, the Turin-born rider continued to shine after taking pole position and finishing third place in the opening GP of the 2021 season in Qatar and soon became one of the main title contenders. With nine podiums, four victories and six pole positions, Bagnaia ended 2021 in second place and is now looking forward to the new Championship, which will start on 6th March at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar.
Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team)
“Being a Ducati rider in MotoGP has always been my dream, and knowing that I can continue with the Ducati Lenovo Team for another two seasons makes me happy and proud. I have found a serene environment in the factory team: I feel very much in tune with my team and know that we can do great things together. Now I can only concentrate on doing well in this Championship. A big thank you to Claudio, Gigi, Paolo, Davide and all the Ducati Corse staff. I’ll try to repay their trust with my results on the track!”
Luigi Dall’Igna (General Manager of Ducati Corse)
“We are delighted to have Bagnaia with us for another two seasons. Since he arrived at Ducati in 2019, Pecco has shown great talent and the ability to interpret our Desmosedici GP very well, adapting to ride it in any condition. He did it, especially in the last season, during which he had significant growth and got to play for the World Title. The way he managed the races at Aragón, Misano, Portimão and Valencia, scoring four fantastic victories, is proof of his maturity as a rider. With these great qualities, we are sure that he has the potential to aim for the title with us“.
Ducati’s Diavel platform has been quite a success for the boys, and girls, from Bologna. It has spawned a few specials and various models, quite a few of which have followed a dark sort of theme but the new limited-edition XDiavel Nera takes the black on black one step further with alternating gloss and matt black segments.
However, the possibility to choose between five different colours for the saddle adds a bit more spice to the colour palette.
The seat is made of Pelle Frau: a soft natural leather saddled by hand, the result of years of research by Poltrona Frau. It is available in five different colours (Siam Red, Steel Blue, Cemento, India and Selva) and is customized with a series of “X” engraved through a sophisticated laser process, which recall the name of the bike.
The bike is also enriched by some style details that enhance its aesthetics, such as the brake calipers and engine head covers in Ducati Red colour and the lightened and fully machined forged rims, painted in gloss black.
The Testastretta DVT 1262 engine which with belt final drive, ensures smooth delivery at low revs and a full curve up to the highest revs. The Testastretta DVT 1262, clearly visible in the centre of the bike, in Euro5 configuration delivers a maximum power output of 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.0 kgm at 5,000 rpm.
The chassis of the bike, the reduced height from the ground of the saddle (755 mm) and the forward position of the footpegs are designed to offer great riding ease and comfort when travelling at low speed.
XDiavel Nera is equipped at the rear with a 240 mm wide tyre mounted on a rim with an 8” channel that makes the bike easily recognizable from any angle, becoming a highly distinctive style element. The particular profile of the tyre also allows a generous maximum lean angle of 40-degrees.
The braking system is powerful and modular and is equipped, like the whole Ducati range, with ABS Cornering. At the front it features Brembo monobloc M50 calipers and two 320 mm discs, while at the rear we can find a single 265 mm disc.
The lighting system is full-LED with a DRL daytime running light system on the front that is easily recognizable and of great visual impact. XDiavel Nera is equipped with Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which, by dynamically measuring the roll and pitch angles as well as the speed of the relative set-up variations, provides the information to ABS Cornering. This system, together with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Riding Modes, Cruise Control and Ducati Power Launch (DPL), make the XDiavel Nera a technologically advanced, high-performance and safe motorcycle. The electronic equipment is completed by the two-level dashboard with colour animation TFT screen and dedicated key-on, in addition to the hands-free system, to be able to use the motorcycle with the key in your pocket or bag.
The individualization of the XDiavel also includes completely customizable ergonomics thanks to the adjustable footpegs in three positions, or through the choice of Ducati Performance accessories that best suit your needs, including handlebars of different shapes and rearward footpegs compared to the standard or centrally located ones.
The XDiavel Nera can already be ordered with the seat in the preferred colour and will be available in dealerships in the Australian Ducati dealer network starting from the third-quarter of 2022. It fits into the Ducati XDiavel range alongside the essential XDiavel Dark and the sporty XDiavel S.
The 500 Ducatisti enthusiasts who order XDiavel Nera will also receive an exclusive key ring and document holder made of Pelle Frau leather in the matching colour to the one chosen for the saddle. The suggested ride away price in Australia will be $44,900, or $46,890 in New Zealand.
The Ducati Lenovo Team has officially launched for the new racing season, presenting the team that will participate in the 2022 MotoGP World Championship, marking the 20th season for the Borgo Panigale based squad in the premier class, this year campaigning Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia.
In a video that retraces last year’s best moments, like the teams’ and manufacturers’ titles victories and the successes achieved by Francesco Bagnaia (2021 MotoGP runner-up with nine podiums and four wins) and Jack Miller (fourth in the Championship last year with five podiums including two wins), the team heralds in the new season. Both riders will continue to wear the colours of the factory Ducati team in 2022 for the second consecutive season.
Jack Miller #43 Ducati Lenovo Team
“The Championship is finally about to start, and I feel ready more than ever to face this new season. Having another year of experience in MotoGP under my belt definitely makes me feel stronger, and I feel I have improved a lot, both physically and mentally, compared to 2021. It will be my second year with the Ducati Lenovo Team, a group of people who are really passionate about Motorsports, and I feel lucky to be part of it. Being a factory Ducati rider is a source of pride, and it means having the support of many fans, not only in Italy but also all over the world. I can’t wait for March and be able to head out on track for the first race of the year in Qatar!”
For the first time since joining the MotoGP grid, the Desmosedici GP machines will be painted in the iconic “Ducati red”, the same colour that distinguishes the production bikes made by the Borgo Panigale based manufacturer.
The new liveries were unveiled on 31st January, ahead of the bikes’ debut on the track, which took place February 5-6 during the pre-season testing in Malaysia.
In 2022, the Ducati Lenovo Team will continue to benefit from the valuable support of its title partner Lenovo, a global technology leader in devices, services, infrastructure and solutions.
After Sepang, the Ducati Lenovo Team riders will return to the track from 11th-13th February for three days of testing at the brand new Mandalika Street Circuit in Lombok (Indonesia). The first race of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship, which now sees twenty-one GPs confirmed, will be held March 4-6 – as usual at night – at the Losail International Circuit in Doha (Qatar).
Claudio Domenicali – CEO of Ducati Motor Holding
“There is great excitement for the start of this MotoGP season. After winning our second consecutive Constructors’ World Title, the desire to put ourselves to the test is great. Last season, we decided to focus on a new strategy that has given us great satisfaction, with young and energetic riders who have matured this year, strengthened by the experience gained, and ready to be even more competitive. Two more of our bikes will be added in 2022, bringing the number of Ducati bikes on track worldwide to eight. For the first time in our MotoGP history, the factory team’s Desmosedici GP bikes will have a new Ducati red livery, the same colour as the bikes we sell to our passionate customers. It is a sign and testimony of the ever-closer bond between the bikes we develop for racing and those that every Ducatista can buy. Lenovo is also by our side. In addition to being the title partner of the factory team, it is also an important technology partner with whom we have achieved important goals such as speeding up data collection and analysis that have allowed us to improve decision-making processes on the track. We can’t wait for 6th March to start the season in Qatar and be back cheering all together with the Ducatisti #ForzaDucati!”
Luigi Dall’Igna – General Manager of Ducati Corse
“We are thrilled to start this new season. In 2021, we achieved important goals by winning our third constructors’ title, our second teams’ title and closing the riders’ Championship in second place with Francesco Bagnaia. Pecco grew a lot during the last Grands Prix of last year, scoring four wins and nine podiums. We are sure that he will be one of the main contenders in the Championship this season. Alongside him will be Jack Miller, who showed his talent on several occasions last year, scoring five podiums, including two thrilling victories, and who, like Pecco, has the potential to challenge for the title. It will not be easy, and we know that the fight in the Championship will be even fiercer. There are several strong riders, and the other manufacturers have certainly worked during the winter to make their package even more competitive. However, we have also been working hard over the past few months to give Pecco and Jack a Desmosedici GP 22 bike that will allow them to be main contenders in every race and any condition. It’s going to be a very challenging season with twenty-one Grands Prix currently confirmed, but we’re ready and looking forward to getting on track to reap the benefits of our hard work.”
Francesco Bagnaia #63 Ducati Lenovo Team
“I’m happy for the start of this new season. We’ve ended 2021 on a high, and I hope to continue 2022 from where we left off last year. My team and I have grown a lot since then. I feel good with my team, and I’m sure that we can do great things together. The Desmosedici GP in this new colour is even more beautiful, and I can’t wait to get back to racing with it. The goal for this season will be, as always, to constantly improve and be competitive in every race. We’ll aim to bring the MotoGP riders’ title, as well as the teams’ and manufacturers’ titles, back to Borgo Panigale.”
As the curtain rises for the 2022 MotoGP World Championship Pramac Racing starts again after the fantastic results of last season, first of all the “Best Independent Team” title that rewards the great work of a group celebrating their twenty-first consecutive year.
Paolo Campinoti
“The goal of this year is to keep high the level after the excellent results of last season. 2021 showed us that the hard work, combined with the great professionalism of the people who form the Team, brings great results. The relationship we created with Johann and Jorge is special and the rankings show it clearly: Best Independent Team, Best Independent Rider and Rookie of the Year, Pramac Racing’s best season. I can’t wait to start, we expect great things“.
Pramac Ducati starts the new season with a new Team Manager, after long turm incumbent Francesco Guidotti left to join KTM.
Claudio Calabresi
“It’s my first time as Team Manager and I’ll give my best to take Pramac Racing even higher. I am sure that Johann and Jorge will help us, they already have done an exceptional job in 2021. This year the challenge is fascinating: to keep high the level and grow again. We have great ambitions and we will do everything to give many satisfactions to our fans“.
Johann Zarco and Jorge Martín will be the Team’s riders for MotoGP 2022. The Frenchman, twice world champion in the Moto2 class, is back from an incredible season that crowned him “Best Independent Rider”.
Johann Zarco
“I’m really happy to run another season with Pramac Racing. Continuity is important, to improve oneself and to carry out ambitious projects. With the team we built a great relationship and I am very satisfied with what we did last season. I can’t wait to leave for tests and get on the bike. It’s going to be a great season.”
Spaniard Jorge Martin – a world champion in the Moto3 class – showed his immense talent by winning the coveted title of “Rookie of the Year” in the premier class. Both riders will have available the Ducati Desmosedici GP22 with factory specs.
Jorge Martin
“Last season was the most intense of my life, a series of strong emotions, hard moments but also of extremely happy ones. Together with Pramac Racing we have started to build something special. Last year we laid the foundation, this year we are ready for greater things”
The Horizon V2 is Ducati’s high-end touring helmet, combining comfort and practicality, style and safety, in a modular package that ensures a flexible solution for any ride.
Part of the 2022 apparel collection, Ducati Horizon V2 has graphics designed by Drudi Performance exclusively for Ducati. The helmet transforms from a full-face helmet to a ‘jet’ (Ducati’s words not mine..), helmet by lifting the chin guard.
The outer shell is made of ‘Ultra’ Carbon material combined with aramid and glass fibres, which give the helmet strength and lightness. The Carbon Fitting internal padding with thermoregulating active carbon filaments ensure comfort, while safety is care of the expanded polystyrene of the inner shell to absorb and disperse kinetic energy in the event of an impact.
The Eyewear Adaptive system allows you to wear the Ultrawide goggles and visor which, with its large surface, offers a large range of visibility to the rider. The included sun visor grants protection from UV rays – up to 400 nm and can be easily disassembled for maintenance and cleaning.
The Horizon V2 helmet is designed and approved for integration with the N-Com B 902X Intercom system to ensure connectivity and this system allows you to manage the mobile phone and its answering, hanging up and last-number redialling functions via Bluetooth, with voice commands and automatic switching between intercom and phone.
The intercom system is equipped with a Smart Conference function for group communications and for sharing music with both the passenger, and/or another motorcycle when travelling in company.
In the Ducati Apparel collection there is an entire line dedicated to touring include options like the Tour C4 and Atacama C2 jacket and trouser outfits. Both are designed by Aldo Drudi and produced by Ducati following the criteria of lightness, strength and usability.
The Horizon V2 helmet and all the items that make up the Ducati Apparel collection are available at the dealer network of the Borgo Panigale company and on Shop.Ducati.com, with Australian pricing set at $1030.55 + GST (RRP) with availability in April, 2022.
Ducati test rider Michele Pirro was on track at Sepang overnight with the latest iteration of the Ducati Desmosedici.
The Ducati sported a new much longer exhaust at the Jerez Test in November, and it appears that development has continued on to the latest prototype.
New fairings and air intakes are also markedly different than seen in 2021.
As for engine spec’, Ducati have gone on record that they will not finalise their engine until after both the Sepang and Mandalika Tests, so there is still a lot more work to be done over this following week by the Ducati crew.
Rookies and Test riders will be again on track today and tomorrow, then there is a break in proceedings before the full complement of MotoGP riders hit the track on February 5.
Always the most intriguing innovators in MotoGP, it will be interesting to see what else Ducati bring to the table over the next couple of weeks….
ERC Endurance Ducati adds Checa and Fores for EWC 2022
After dominating racetracks around the world with the V4 R in sprint racing, Ducati are stepping up there efforts to win the FIM World Endurance Championship in 2022. The EWC Endurance Team has also signed a new two-year agreement with Ducati Corse, which brings engineering support, among several other benefits to its attack. The team is planning pre-season testing at Portimão and Misano.
Spaniards David Checa and Xavi Fores will add further international flavour – and even more pace – to the ERC Endurance Ducati squad contesting the upcoming FIM Endurance World Championship season.
Joining Frenchman Mathieu Gines and Italian Lorenzo Zanetti, Checa and Fores will help to create a formidable line-up on the German team’s Ducati Panigale V4R.
Checa is one of the most successful and experienced riders in the history of endurance racing and is transferring from the factory Kawasaki outfit to the team from Karlsruhe. Winner of the EWC in 2004, 2014, 2016/17 and 2018/19, Checa also has experience in MotoGP and the World Superbike Championship. In addition, the 41-year-old has won the Bol d’Or twice and the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans on three occasions.
David Checa
“Since first entering the EWC competition at Malaysia two years ago I was able to watch the Ducati very closely on track and from beside and from the beginning it was clear to see the potential of the Panigale V4R-EWC. The team has had a strong first season, showing the Ducati can mix it up front. They also learned a lot already and I am happy to now be part of this project. I will use all my experience on every single point to help bringing it further ahead.”
Fores, 36, joins ERC Endurance Ducati from the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, which he helped to finish runner-up in the 2021 FIM EWC Teams’ ranking. With experience and pedigree in GP125, Moto2, MotoGP, World Superbike and World Supersport, Fores is also a title winner in the German IDM Superbike series.
Xavi Fores
“I had some great success with Ducati already and I think the ERC Endurance Panigale V4R-EWC can not only win podiums and races, but also fight for championships. I am looking forward to the new season and I think we can build on the great potential the team showed last year already.”
Gines and Zanetti, meanwhile, helped EWC Endurance Ducati to ninth place in the battle to win the 2021 FIM EWC Teams’ title. A decision on which member of the team’s quartet will take the fourth rider role will be made a later date, along with the decision on the tyre partner.
EWC Endurance Ducati Team Manager Frank Hoffmann
“With Mathieu Gines, Lorenzo Zanetti, David Checa and Xavi Fores we have four absolute endurance specialists that are quick as hell. For ERC Endurance it is a big honour to have four such high profile riders joining us after just one year as it shows we gained a lot of respect in our first season in the FIM Endurance World Championship. We were quick and our Panigale V4R was more than reliable with our mechanics doing a great job in the pits. Of course we had to learn a lot and we have to take the learned things to 2022 to even get better. But it is a fact that with this bike and those four riders we have all the tools to fight for podiums, wins and the sharp end in the overall standing of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship.”
