Öncü claimed fourth on a 1:36.837, from Foggia on a 1:36.872, then Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team), Suzuki, Moreira, Guevara in ninth, and Masia rounding out the top 10 after a stellar effort from the Ajo crew to repair his bike. Also straight into Q2 are Adrian Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Tech3), Ivan Ortola (Angeluss MTA Team), Kelso, and Kaito Toba (CIP Green Power), despite the latter’s mid-session crash at ‘Honda’ Hairpin. Also getting some track time was one of Phillip Island’s local geese, which strayed onto the circuit near Lukey Heights and brought about a red flag after the chequered flag had already come out.
