Sample collection and analysis to now be carried out by US Anti-Doping Agency.
The FIM board of directors met at the federation’s headquarters in Switzerland this week, where they approved a new simplified and swift anti-doping procedure for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and FIM World Championship.
Amongst varying topics discussed at the meeting, a brief statement read that sample collection and analysis will be now be carried out by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), while the FIM will be responsible for the rest of the procedure in case of a positive result.
It’s understood the process will be sped up via the US Anti-Doping Agency, rather than the previous system, which saw the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) handle the entire procedure.
It comes after significant backlash from riders and fans in the cases of James Stewart, Broc Tickle, Cade Clason and most recently Christian Craig, who have all been forced to wait long periods to first of all be notified of a positive sample, and secondly, be handed an official sanction.
