KTM Enduro Racing Team rider and eventual runner-up Lyndon Snodgrass has described last weekend’s weather-affected Penrite Hattah Desert Race as a ‘race of survival’, with the event being declared halfway through due to torrential conditions.

Snodgrass remained consistent on the mud-soaked circuit, capitalising on a technical difficulty from Daniel Sanders (Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team) to ultimately finish second behind teammate Daniel Milner (KTM Enduro Racing Team), while earning top honours in the 251cc-450cc 4-Stroke class.

“Today was a crazy one with all that rain coming down, making it a really tough mud race in the desert, so to finish second outright and first in class was definitely awesome,” Snodgrass explained.

“The Prologue was important and we did well in that, so today I tried to have the cleanest race possible all the way through to the end – it was a matter of survival in those conditions by the time we got to the last lap and especially towards the end. The KTM 450 EXC-F was faultless all weekend and we managed to get one position better than last year, so I’m rapt with that result.”

Snodgrass will make his next appearance when the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) returns on 20-21 July at Kyogle in New South Wales.
