Huertas tops Jerez WorldSSP Superpole, as Manzi misses out on top three

The FIM Supersport World Championship was back in action on Friday afternoon at The Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, for the Superpole session and the Spanish spectators were treated to an exciting final five minutes as the riders battled for the top grid positions ahead of Saturday’s Race 1. Current title leader, Adrián Huertas (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) rode a lap time of 1’42.115s to secure the leading grid position.

8 out of 12 Poles: Huertas dominates 2024 SuperPoles

Fellow Ducati rider, Jorge Navarro (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) set his best lap time, coming in 0.219s behind the #99 rider despite facing a disrupted session following a crash. An impressive session from Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) means the German will start Race 1 from third position, whilst Championship contender Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) will lead the second row from lights out.It’s been an outstanding 2024 season for Huertas, who claimed his eighth pole position of the year on Friday afternoon.

All eyes on Race 1: Huertas v Manzi

Starting behind Huertas’s closest rival Manzi for tomorrows Race 1, will be Federico Caricasulo (Motozoo ME AIR Racing) and Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) who will complete the second row. Britain’s Thomas Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph) completed a strong Superpole session, setting the seventh fastest lap time, whilst the #53 rider Valentin Debise (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) secured eighth.

Oncu starts from tenth: Turkish rider on fourth row

Further back, another notable performance from John Mcphee (WRP by SKM-Triumph) will mean he starts ahead of the day’s fastest Free Practice rider, Can Oncu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) as the pair round off the top 10 rider in the SuperSport class. The excitement is certainly building up, as the riders now focus their attention on Saturday afternoon, where the World Champion could be crowned in Race 1.
