Australian Caleb Grothues has cemented his future in the EMX250 category of the Motocross European Championship for 2020 after signing with Team RT973, which will see him pilot a Suzuki RM-Z250.
The Western Australian will transfer to the Suzuki squad after two seasons at SDM Corse Yamaha, where he’ll contest the International Italian Motocross Championship and the Italian MX2 championship alongside EMX250.
Grothues 2019 campaign in the competitive EMX250 class saw him finish with a ranking of 20th after completing six of the eight rounds.
“I’m happy to announce I will be onboard a Suzuki for the 2020 season for Team RT973,” Grothues commented. “I will be racing the EMX250 and both International Italian and Italian [MX2] championships. I want to thank all the people who are supporting me and behind me for the 2020 season.”
The former junior world champion scored a season-best result of ninth overall at Russia’s fourth round of the European series.
