Afternoon sessions conclude at Wollongong’s WIN Stadium.
Luke Clout (CDR Yamaha Monster Energy) and Jacob Hayes (Serco Yamaha) have emerged fastest in their respective categories after qualifying at Wollongong’s third stop of the 2019 Australian Supercross Championship.
The SX1 class proved to be an incredibly close affair, with the top three separated by a mere 0.116s – Clout’s 40.662s granting him the top spot.
American Josh Hill (CDR Yamaha Monster Energy) qualified second with a 40.702s lap in his return to the country, as three-time defending champion Justin Brayton (Penrite Honda Racing) closed out the top three after posting a 40.778s time.
CDR Yamaha Monster Energy’s Dan Reardon was fourth followed by Empire Kawasaki’s Dylan Long, while top 10 was rounded out by Lawson Bopping (Empire Kawasaki), Brett Metcalfe (Penrite Honda Racing), Jackson Richardson (Honda), Richie Evans (Yamalube Yamaha Racing) and Jesse Dobson (Husqvarna).
In the SX2 category, round one winner Hayes qualified on pole, the Serco Yamaha challenger recording a time of 41.049s to edge out fellow American Mitchell Oldenburg (Penrite Honda Racing), who set a time of 41.514s.
Penrite Honda Racing’s Chris Blose was third fastest after lodging a 41.588s, while points leader Aaron Tanti (Serco Yamaha) and Josh Osby (Raceline KTM Thor) locked out the top five.
Positions six to 10 were taken out by Jay Wilson (Yamalube Yamaha Racing), Bradley Taft (Empire Kawasaki), Kyle Webster (Penrite Pirelli CRF Honda Racing) – who topped the unseeded session – Dylan Wills (Davey Motorsports KTM) and Regan Duffy (Raceline KTM Thor). The night show kicks off at 5:30pm local time.
