Bautista leads Rinaldi in Ducati 1-2 during Sunday morning Warm Up at Misano

Sunday action in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship got underway with the 15-minute Warm Up session with reigning Champion Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) leading the timesheets by four tenths of a second ahead of his teammate as he looks for more victories with Ducati on the manufacturer’s home soil. Bautista was more than four tenths clear of his teammate at the end of the session.

Bautista and Rinaldi both spent time at the top of the times as they look to repeat their success from Race 1, using a special yellow livery for the weekend. Bautista’s best time was a 1’33.208s was on his eighth lap out of nine as he topped the times with Rinaldi setting a 1’33.622s for second spot to follow his teammate home in Warm Up. Third place went to Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) after he, like Bautista, posted his best lap time towards the end of the session to lap 0.589s down on Bautista.

Rookie Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) continued his impressive home round with fourth in Warm Up as he looks to bounce back from his Race 1 crash when he was running in fourth place, ahead of fellow Ducati rider Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing) in fifth place after he set a 1’34.148s. Sixth place belonged to Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) as he looks to make gains after a difficult Race 1 on Saturday.

Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) was the fastest BMW rider in seventh place after he set a 1’34.266s to finish ahead of six-time Champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) and teammate Alex Lowes in eighth and ninth respectively, with Rea’s best time a 1’34.278s and Lowes posting a bet of 1’34.513s. Team HRC’s Iker Lecuona rounded out the top ten with a 1’34.530s, denying Tom Sykes (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) by just 0.007s.
