Honda updates its NC750X and NC750X DCT for 2021, giving its kind-hearted commuter a revised engine, new tech, and increased carrying capacity. Both versions will be available in dealerships this May, with the manual transmission NC750X pricing at $8,199 and its automatic DCT sibling pricing at $8,999.
Editor’s note: We test rode Honda’s commuter-friendly streetbike during the 2020 Honda NC750X DCT ABS MC Commute Review.
The essential architecture of the 745cc parallel-twin engine remains unchanged, but Honda raised the redline by 600 rpm and increased horsepower (though there’s no mention of exactly how much). Ride-by-wire is now standard, making it possible to offer Standard, Road, Rain, and Custom engine power settings. Honda Selectable Traction Control is available on the DCT version while a new slipper clutch and revised first, second, and third gear ratios are equipped on the manual edition.
Both models pack a larger 23-liter-capacity storage compartment in the faux fuel tank, a hallmark feature of the über-convenient NC750X.
Both editions also lose some weight thanks to a new steel truss frame, which helps shave 11 pounds from last year’s models. The package will be suspended by a 41mm Showa fork with 4.7 inches of travel available while out back a Pro-Link Honda Multi-Action System shock offers 5.9 inches of travel. Both models will be equipped with a linked, rear-to-front, ABS braking package.
The revised frame allowed designers to lower seat height by more than an inch and fit a new cowl and bodywork. The seat is revised also with an updated shape for enhanced comfort. The LCD instrument panel is larger than before, and a complete range of adventure accessories will be available including saddlebags, heated grips, taller windscreens, and cowl guards among numerous other items.
